Institute for Business & Home Safety (IBHS) IBHS is a nonprofit association that engages in communication, education, engineering and research. Mission The Institute for Business & Home Safety’s mission is to reduce the social and economic effects of natural disasters and other property losses by conducting research and advocating improved construction, maintenance and preparation practices. Vision We envision a nation that positions and builds its businesses and homes to keep its citizens and their property safe from natural disasters. IBHS will designate a home as Fortified…for Safer Living® if the home is built to certain standards, and passes physical inspections by an independent inspection organization at specific phases of construction. Upon receiving that designation the home is listed on a national register of Fortified…for Safer Living® homes and will remain there for the life of the structure. In the State of Florida that designation will enable the homeowner to receive up to a 68% reduction of the wind portion of their homeowner insurance. Tarpon Coast Builders is proud to build exclusively Fortified…for Safer Living® homes. All of our SafeHomesTM are built to exceed this exacting standard, thereby providing maximum safety and security for the families who own our homes. Energy Star
Homes that earn the ENERGY STAR must meet guidelines for energy efficiency set by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency. ENERGY STAR qualified homes are at least 15% more energy efficient than homes built to the 2006 International Energy Conservation Code (IECC). ENERGY STAR qualified homes can include a variety of energy-efficient features, such as effective insulation, high performance windows, tight construction and ducts, efficient heating and cooling equipment, and ENERGY STAR qualified lighting and appliances. These features contribute to improved home quality and homeowner comfort, and to lower energy demand and reduced air pollution. ENERGY STAR also encourages the use of energy-efficient lighting and appliances, as well as features designed to improve indoor air quality. Tarpon Coast Builders is proud to be an Energy Star Partner. All of our SafeHomesTM are built to meet Energy Star requirements and are certified as such. The construction methods used by Tarpon Coast Builders to meet Energy Star requirements save the homeowner significant utility costs and enable them to take advantage of programs sponsored by Energy Star. FPL BuildSmart
All new Florida homes are built to comply with the state building code. But codes merely set the minimum requirements for any home. FPL BuildSmart® offers the higher standard in new home energy efficiency. By choosing FPL's BuildSmart standard, you'll save energy, money and more.
Tarpon Coast Builders is an FPL BuildSmart builder and is proud to be associated with this energy efficient, green building program. Public-Private Partnership for Advancing Housing Technology (PATH) The Partnership for Advancing Technology in Housing is a public-private initiative dedicated to accelerating the development and use of technologies that radically improve the quality, durability, energy efficiency, environmental performance, and affordability of America's housing.
